Roshan Sethi is a gay Canadian-American filmmaker and physician, born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He earned his undergraduate degree at Yale before attending Harvard Medical School, and continues to practice part-time as a radiation oncologist at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital. He co-created the medical drama The Resident (2018), wrote and directed his debut feature 7 Days (2021), and directed A Nice Indian Boy (2025), a rom-com starring his husband, Karan Soni, as a gay man who falls for a man adopted by Indian parents, played by Jonathan Groff. Sethi met Soni on the dating app Raya around 2018, and the two have spoken candidly in interviews about how their real relationship shaped the authenticity of their onscreen collaborations.
