Jonathan Groff

Jonathan Groff is a Tony Award-winning actor who first came to national attention originating the role of Melchior in the Broadway premiere of Spring Awakening (2006). He came out as gay in a 2009 interview during his time as a recurring cast member on Glee. He has since voiced Kristoff in the Frozen franchise, starred as FBI agent Holden Ford in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Mindhunter (2017–2019), and originated the role of King George III in Hamilton (2015). In 2024 he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Company. He was previously in a relationship with Zachary Quinto. Groff has spoken openly about the particular challenge of being an openly gay leading man in a town where that combination is still the exception.
