Sophie Huber is a Swiss documentary filmmaker, born in Bern in 1971, known for intimate, character-driven portraits of cultural icons in music and film. A former actress, she directed Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction (2012), an impressionistic portrait of the legendary character actor woven from film clips, folk songs, and candid conversations with collaborators including David Lynch, Wim Wenders, and Kris Kristofferson, and Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes (2018), which chronicles the history and enduring legacy of the pioneering jazz label. She has been married to the actress Cherry Jones, a two-time Tony Award winner, since 2015 β one of the theater and film worlds' most quietly visible same-sex marriages β and the couple have spoken of the creative sustenance of their partnership across continents and art forms.
