Tig Notaro

Tig Notaro is an openly lesbian American stand-up comedian, writer, and actress known for one of the most celebrated sets in comedy history: her August 2012 live show at Largo in Los Angeles, in which she opened by saying "Hello. I have cancer" — delivered four days after her diagnosis, following months in which she had also lost her mother, ended a relationship, and contracted a near-fatal bacterial infection. Louis C.K. released the recording as a download; it sold over 100,000 copies in days and earned a Grammy nomination, making Notaro a household name. She married actress Stephanie Allynne in 2015 and the couple have twin sons. She created and starred in One Mississippi (Amazon, 2015–2017), a semi-autobiographical drama about grief and queer identity in Mississippi, and appeared as Chief Engineer Reno in Star Trek: Discovery (2019–2024). She has won two Grammy Awards for her comedy albums.
