Theo Germaine

Theo Germaine is an American actor who is transmasculine and nonbinary, using they/them and he/him pronouns, and has become a significant figure in contemporary queer representation. They first gained prominence playing James Sullivan, a trans male character, on The Politician (2019), followed by their role as Chris, a trans man barista, on Work in Progress (2019). Germaine has continued to build a varied screen career with roles in the docudrama series Equal (2020), the sci-fi drama 4400 (2021), and the horror film They/Them (2022), which follows a group of LGBTQ+ teens at a conversion therapy camp. Their recent work includes roles in Night's End (2022) and the hybrid documentary Desire Lines (2024), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Trained in theater, dance, comedy, and circus arts, Germaine has spoken about the need for nuanced trans and nonbinary storytelling and advocates for expanded opportunities for gender-diverse performers.
