Simon Callow is a British actor, director, and writer known for Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Amadeus (1984), and extensive work at the National Theatre and RSC. He was one of the first prominent British actors to write openly about his homosexuality β doing so in his memoir Being an Actor (1984) β at a time when such disclosure was extremely rare and professionally risky. He has since been a consistent and eloquent public advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, written about Charles Dickens and other historical figures, and remained one of Britain's most respected theatrical presences across four decades.
