Sara Ramirez is a Tony Award-winning actor known for playing Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy (ABC, 2006–2016), one of the longest-running characters on the show and one of the most prominent bisexual Latina characters in US network television history. Callie's coming-out arc, bisexual relationships, and eventual wedding to Arizona Robbins were landmark moments for LGBTQ+ representation in primetime drama. Ramirez came out publicly as bisexual in a 2016 GLAAD media awards speech, and in 2021 came out as nonbinary and adopted they/them pronouns. They joined And Just Like That (Max, 2021–), the Sex and the City revival, as Che Diaz — a rare instance of an openly nonbinary actor playing an explicitly nonbinary character in a mainstream production. Ramirez is a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ representation in healthcare and media.
