Ruby Rose

Ruby Rose is a lesbian and genderfluid Australian actress, model, DJ, and television presenter who came out as a lesbian and genderfluid as a teenager — an early and formative act of public self-declaration that shaped both her personal life and the trajectory of her career. Rose became a global figure in LGBTQ+ communities following her breakout as Stella Carlin, a swaggering, androgynous prisoner whose arrival on "Orange Is the New Black" Season 3 (2015) generated enormous cultural attention. The character's genderfluid presentation and Rose's own identity aligned in a way that felt both genuine and historic: a visibly genderfluid person playing a visibly genderfluid character on one of the most watched shows in the world. She went on to play the superhero Batwoman in the CW's "Batwoman" (2019–2020) — the first queer woman to headline a DC television series — before departing due to on-set difficulties.
