Rhys Ernst

Rhys Ernst is a transgender American filmmaker and producer who was a co-producer and directed multiple episodes of Transparent (Amazon, 2014–2019) and has been one of the most important trans voices working in American narrative television. He created the short documentary series We've Been Around (2016), which profiled historical trans figures, and has directed various other projects. Ernst has spoken about the importance of trans people occupying creative positions — not just appearing on screen — in order to shape the stories that get told about trans lives.
