Reneé Rapp is a lesbian actress and singer who came out as a lesbian in 2024, having previously identified as bisexual — a refinement of her public identity that she described as a process of increasing self-knowledge and confidence. Rapp first gained wide attention when she originated the role of Regina George in the Broadway revival of "Mean Girls" (2018), bringing a commanding physical presence and emotional depth to the iconic queen bee role. She reprised the character in the 2024 film adaptation, for which she also contributed original songs. On Max's "The Sex Lives of College Girls" (2021–present), she plays Leighton Murray, a closeted lesbian whose arc across the series tracks a coming-out story marked by privilege, vulnerability, and the particular difficulty of queer identity in highly heteronormative environments. Rapp has released solo music as a singer-songwriter, including the EP "Everything to Everyone" (2023), and has spoken about her music as a space for processing her queerness with unguarded honesty. She is one of the most prominent young openly lesbian entertainers in America.
