Michael Urie

Michael Urie is an openly gay American actor known for playing the scheming, fashion-obsessed Marc St. James on Ugly Betty (2006) and for Younger (2015). He came out before he became famous and has been open about his identity throughout his career, frequently speaking about the importance of queer representation in comedy and drama. He also starred in the one-man show Buyer & Cellar (2013) and, more recently, in Apple TV+'s Shrinking (2023), for which he received a 2025 Emmy nomination. On Broadway, Urie has appeared in Torch Song, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Spamalot, and Once Upon a Mattress, winning a Drama Desk Award for the latter. Urie has been a prominent presence in both Broadway and television communities.
