Michael Jeter

Michael Jeter was an American actor known for Evening Shade (1990, Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), The Fisher King (1991), and The Green Mile (1999). He was gay and met his partner, Sean Blue, in 1995; the two remained together until Jeter's death. He publicly disclosed his HIV-positive diagnosis in a 1997 Entertainment Tonight interview and remained healthy for years afterward. On March 30, 2003, Blue found Jeter dead at their Hollywood Hills home at age 50, of complications following an epileptic seizure. Jeter also won the 1990 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Grand Hotel and appeared in Waterworld (1995). He was a beloved character actor whose warmth and vulnerability made him memorable in everything he appeared in.
