Megan Ellison is an American film producer and the founder of Annapurna Pictures, which she established in 2011 and which has produced some of the most critically acclaimed American films of the past decade, including Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Her (2013), American Hustle (2013), Phantom Thread (2017), and If Beale Street Could Talk (2018). She is openly lesbian and has been in a long-term relationship with marketing executive Robyn Shapiro since around 2014; that year, Out magazine named her one of the 50 most influential LGBT voices in American culture. Ellison has been one of the most powerful figures in American independent and prestige cinema, and Annapurna has also produced numerous LGBTQ+-themed films, with Ellison using her position to support films and filmmakers that major studios would not.
