Mawaan Rizwan is a British-Pakistani comedian, actor, and writer who is openly gay and known for blending queer identity, diasporic humor, and surreal physical comedy into a singular creative voice. He first gained attention through YouTube sketches before breaking out with his BBC Three documentary How Gay Is Pakistan? (2015), where he explored LGBTQ+ life under Pakistan's anti-gay laws -- a project he has described as personally transformative. Rizwan's stand-up specials and tours foreground his sexuality with warmth and absurdity, while his acting work includes Two Weeks to Live (2020), Juice (2022), and Taskmaster (2021), where he became a fan favorite. As a writer, he contributed to Sex Education (2019), helping shape one of the most queer-inclusive series of the decade. Rizwan's visibility as a gay South Asian performer has made him a key figure in expanding queer representation across British comedy and television.
