Leslye Headland

Leslye Headland is an openly lesbian American writer, director, and playwright, trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, known for the "Seven Deadly Sins" cycle of plays she wrote in her twenties -- including Assistance (2008) and Bachelorette (2010), the latter of which she adapted into her feature directorial debut, Bachelorette (2012). She went on to direct Sleeping with Other People (2015) and co-create Russian Doll (2019) with Natasha Lyonne and Amy Poehler, which won numerous Emmy Awards, and created The Acolyte (2024), a Star Wars series. She has spoken about the importance of queer perspectives in genre work and the gradual opening of the entertainment industry to queer showrunners.
