Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who has been a defining LGBTQ+ ally and icon since the beginning of her career. She came out as bisexual in a 2009 Rolling Stone interview and has spoken extensively about her own queer identity while also being one of the most prominent celebrity advocates for LGBTQ+ rights, helping lead the campaign to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell. At the 2019 Academy Awards, she won Best Original Song for "Shallow" and was nominated for Best Actress, both for A Star Is Born (2018), making her only the second person ever nominated for both an acting award and a song award in the same year. Her album Born This Way (2011) became an LGBTQ+ anthem. She has credited the gay community with discovering and elevating her and has been a fierce advocate for queer youth.
