Keiynan Lonsdale is a bisexual Australian actor who came out publicly in April 2018 with an Instagram post that declared his bisexuality with joy and defiance: "I want to be brave, I want to be me." The post, which went viral, described years of internal struggle with an identity he had suppressed out of fear of judgment, and expressed his determination to live openly regardless of career consequences. Lonsdale's coming out was particularly notable because it came shortly after the release of "Love, Simon" (2018) — the first major Hollywood studio film centered on a gay teenage love story, in which he played Bram Greenfeld, Simon's love interest. The pairing of an on-screen breakthrough queer role with a real-life coming-out gave Lonsdale an outsized cultural significance in that moment. He had previously played Wally West / Kid Flash on The CW's "The Flash" (2016–2018). He has spoken about the relief and joy of coming out and about the importance of bisexual visibility, including within LGBTQ+ communities where biphobia remains a real force.
