Julián Hernández is a Mexican gay filmmaker known for his richly atmospheric, formally distinctive films about gay male desire and longing, including 1,000 Clouds of Peace (2003), Broken Sky (El cielo dividido, 2006), and A Thousand Clouds of Peace Fence the Sky, Love; Your Being Love Will Never End (2003). His work has been celebrated at international film festivals including Berlin and Tribeca and has been central to the emergence of a sophisticated queer cinema from Mexico that engages with both desire and melancholy.
