
Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor is a British-Nigerian lesbian film producer known for Blue Story (2019) and Rye Lane (2023), a critically celebrated British romantic comedy set in Peckham that was acquired by Searchlight/Disney+ and praised for its fresh, joyful portrayal of young Black British life. She has been open about her lesbianism and has spoken about the importance of diversity behind the camera in British film, both in terms of race and sexual identity.
