Jim Parsons is a four-time Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-winning actor best known for playing Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 2007β2019). He came out publicly when a 2012 New York Times profile matter-of-factly noted his decade-long relationship with producer Todd Spiewak; Parsons later said the piece reflected his own comfort with his identity. He and Spiewak married in May 2017. Parsons received a Tony nomination for The Normal Heart (2011) and reprised the role in the acclaimed HBO film adaptation (2014), playing a gay man during the AIDS crisis. He also starred in Hollywood (Netflix, 2020) and has been a generous advocate for LGBTQ+ causes.
