Jeanne Crépeau is a Quebec lesbian filmmaker, born in Montreal in 1961 and trained at the National Film Board of Canada and the Canadian Film Centre, known for her feature debut Julie and Me (1998, released in French as Revoir Julie), about two women — former childhood friends and lovers — who reconnect years later on a road trip through Quebec's Eastern Townships as old feelings resurface. The film won the Audience Award at the Paris Lesbian Film Festival in 1999 and was part of the broader emergence of queer Francophone Canadian cinema in the 1990s; it remains recognized as a significant work in the tradition of Quebec lesbian filmmaking. Crépeau had made a number of short films through the 1980s and early 1990s before directing the feature.
