Jake Choi is a Korean-American actor who identifies as sexually fluid and has been outspoken about rejecting rigid labels around sexuality and masculinity. He came out in a 2018 interview, explaining that although he identified as straight while making the 2015 LGBTQ+ film Front Cover — in which he played a gay fashion stylist — the role pushed him to reexamine his own identity in the years after. Choi broke out playing Miggy, a young single dad, on Single Parents (2018), and has since become known for roles that foreground Asian-American and LGBTQ+ narratives, including The Sun Is Also a Star (2019) and East of La Brea (2023). He has been a vocal critic of Hollywood's narrow expectations for Asian men, speaking about how embracing a fluid sexuality helped him unlearn toxic masculinity and approach his work with more vulnerability.
