Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer is a transgender actress, model, and activist who first gained national attention as a teenage plaintiff in a 2016 lawsuit challenging North Carolina's HB2 "bathroom bill," fighting for trans rights before she began her entertainment career. She transitioned at 14 and later became a model before being cast as Jules Vaughn in Euphoria (2019), a trans girl navigating first love, addiction, and identity in an unflinching portrait of contemporary adolescence. Her performance opposite Zendaya brought unprecedented depth to trans experience on television. She co-wrote the Euphoria special episode "Fck Anyone Who's Not a Sea Blob" (2021), which explored Jules's inner life with striking intimacy. Schafer went on to take her first lead film role in the horror film Cuckoo (2024), and appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes* (2023), while continuing to model for major fashion houses.
