Danny Pintauro

Danny Pintauro is an American actor best known as Jonathan Bower, the precocious child on Who's the Boss? (ABC, 1984–1992). He came out as gay in a 1997 People magazine article — one of the earliest such disclosures from a former child star — at a time when the industry had made almost no space for gay actors. In 2015 he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to disclose that he was HIV-positive, having kept his status private for eleven years, and discussed the role of methamphetamine use in his transmission. Pintauro became an advocate for HIV awareness and destigmatization, speaking publicly about treatment, stigma, and the importance of prevention resources.
