Dan Bucatinsky is an Emmy Award-winning American actor, writer, and producer known for playing James Novak — the husband of Jeff Perry's Cyrus Beene — on Scandal (2012), a gay political marriage at the center of one of the most popular prime-time dramas of the decade. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for the role in 2013. Bucatinsky has also written, produced, and acted alongside longtime collaborator Lisa Kudrow on The Comeback (2005) and Web Therapy (2008), and wrote the memoir Does This Baby Make Me Look Straight?: Confessions of a Gay Dad. He married screenwriter Don Roos in 2008, during the brief window when same-sex marriage was first legal in California, and the couple have two children. Bucatinsky has been an outspoken advocate for equal adoption rights and marriage equality throughout his career.
