Charlie Carver is an American actor known for playing Ethan, a gay werewolf, on Teen Wolf (2011) and Porter Scavo on Desperate Housewives (2004). In January 2016, he became one of the first actors from a current mainstream US teen drama to come out as gay, doing so in a series of Instagram posts describing the painful years of hiding his identity and the relief and liberation of finally living openly. He has since built a notably queer body of work: he made his Broadway debut in the 2018 revival of The Boys in the Band and reprised his role as Cowboy in the film The Boys in the Band (2020), appeared in the queer-centered Ratched (2020), and starred as Adam Carpenter in the NYC season of American Horror Story (2011). He frequently works alongside his identical twin brother, actor Max Carver, and has spoken at LGBTQ+ events about the importance of visibility for young queer fans of genre television.
