Catherine Corsini is a French director and screenwriter known for Summertime (2015), a beautifully observed love story between a farm-raised young woman and a Parisian feminist activist in the early 1970s, and The Divide (2021), which centers on a lesbian couple caught in a Paris hospital during a night of social unrest, premiered in competition at Cannes, and won the festival's Queer Palm. She has been openly lesbian for much of her career and is in a long-term relationship with Elisabeth Perez, the producer of her recent films. Over a career spanning more than three decades, her work has been characterized by emotional precision and a deep attention to female desire and interiority, and with Summertime and The Divide she placed lesbian love stories at the center of contemporary French cinema.
