Brian Jordan Alvarez is an openly gay Latinx writer, actor, and filmmaker known for creating and starring in The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo (2016), a charming web series about queer Los Angeles friendships and relationships that developed a devoted following and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. He created and starred in English Teacher (2024), a two-season comedy series in which he plays an openly gay high school English teacher navigating relationships, identity, and the absurdities of American education — one of the first openly gay leads of a scripted comedy series in which his queerness is central but not the only thing about him.
