Ben Whishaw is a British actor best known for portraying Q in the James Bond films Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021), and for acclaimed stage and television work. He won BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Norman Scott — the gay man at the center of a major British political scandal — in A Very English Scandal (2018). He has also appeared in Bright Star (2009) and Cloud Atlas (2012) and starred as a gay assassin in the spy thriller Black Doves (2024). He came out as gay in 2012, when it was announced that he had quietly married composer Mark Bradshaw in Australia; the two later divorced. He has since spoken more openly about his identity and the challenges facing gay actors in an industry that often expects queer performers to minimise their expression. Whishaw is widely regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation.
