Ben Platt is a gay actor and singer who has been open about his sexuality throughout his adult career. He publicly discussed being gay in interviews from 2019 onward, including during promotion for his debut album, and has spoken about the relief and joy of living openly in both his personal and professional life. Platt won a Tony Award for originating the role of Evan Hansen in "Dear Evan Hansen" on Broadway (2017) — a musical about loneliness and connection that resonated profoundly with LGBTQ+ youth. He later reprised the role in the 2021 film adaptation. A multi-hyphenate stage and screen talent, he starred in the acclaimed Broadway revival of "Parade" (2023) and the film "Theater Camp" (2023), where he appeared alongside his fiancé Noah Galvin, himself openly gay. Platt and Galvin's public relationship has made them one of the most visible gay couples in American entertainment. On screen he has also appeared in "Pitch Perfect" and "The Politician."
