Anthony Perkins was an American actor permanently associated with Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and its sequels, though he also delivered acclaimed performances in Friendly Persuasion (1956, Oscar nomination), Fear Strikes Out (1957), and The Trial (1962). He was gay and had significant relationships with men throughout his life β including Tab Hunter, whom he met in the late 1950s β while keeping his sexuality private during an era when it would have ended his career. He married Berry Berenson in 1973 and had two sons. He died of AIDS-related complications in September 1992. His life and sexuality were explored in detail in Tab Hunter Confidential (2015).
