Angela Robinson is an African-American lesbian filmmaker and television writer known for D.E.B.S. (2004), a cult queer action comedy about lesbian spies expanded from her own award-winning short film of the same name, and Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017), a nuanced biopic about the polyamorous, BDSM-practicing creator of Wonder Woman and his two life partners. Robinson has also written for True Blood (2008) and directed episodes of numerous television series including The L Word (2004). Her work consistently centers queer women's desire and politics with intelligence and warmth, and she has spoken about the importance of making films that celebrate rather than apologize for queer women's sexuality and complexity.
