Andrew Scott is an Irish actor who came out as gay in 2013 and has become one of the most celebrated performers of his generation. He is known for his magnetic portrayal of Moriarty in Sherlock (BBC, 2010β2017), for playing the quietly devastating "Priest" in Fleabag (BBC/Amazon, 2019), and for his lead performance in All of Us Strangers (2023), Andrew Haigh's film about a gay screenwriter revisiting his past and falling in love, for which Scott received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. He has also played Hamlet on stage to great acclaim. Scott has spoken with unusual candor about his sexuality, grief, and the emotional experience of playing gay characters as a gay man β particularly in All of Us Strangers.
