Andrew Rannells is an openly gay actor and singer known for originating Elder Price in The Book of Mormon on Broadway (2011), earning a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He then starred as Bryan Collins in The New Normal (NBC, 2012β2013), one of the first network sitcoms to center on a gay couple starting a family, and as Elijah Krantz in Girls (HBO, 2012β2017). He received a Tony nomination for Falsettos (Broadway, 2016), a revival of the landmark queer musical about AIDS and chosen family. Rannells has spoken frankly about growing up gay in Catholic Nebraska and the tension between his faith upbringing and his identity, themes also explored in his memoir Too Much Is Not Enough (2019).
