Andrew Ahn is a Korean-American gay filmmaker known for Spa Night (2016), a quiet, deeply felt independent film about a Korean-American college student discovering his gay identity in Los Angeles's Korean spa culture; Driveways (2019), a widely acclaimed drama about unexpected human connection starring Hong Chau and the late Brian Dennehy; and Fire Island (2022), a joyfully queer romantic comedy set in the famous LGBTQ+ resort town that brought mainstream visibility to gay Asian-American community and desire. He has also directed episodes of various television series and has been a thoughtful and consistent advocate for centering queer Asian-American stories in both film and television.
