Alexis Arquette was a transgender actress and performer, the sibling of actors Patricia, Rosanna, Richmond, and David Arquette. She began her career as a gay male performer in the early 1990s, appearing in Pulp Fiction (1994), The Wedding Singer (1998), and numerous other films, and transitioned publicly in the 2000s. The 2007 documentary Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother followed her transition and her relationships with her famous family. She died of HIV-related complications in September 2016. Arquette was a vivid, fearless presence in Hollywood who pushed back against the industry's rigid gender norms long before trans visibility became a cultural conversation.
