Alexandra Billings

Alexandra Billings is a transgender actress, educator, and activist who has been openly trans her entire career — beginning in the Chicago theater scene in the 1980s and '90s, when transgender performers had almost no mainstream visibility. She is best known for playing Davina, the neighbor and mentor to Jeffrey Tambor's Maura, on Transparent (2014) — one of the first prominent trans recurring characters on prestige television, played by a trans actress. Billings has also appeared in How to Get Away with Murder (2014), The Conners (2018), and various stage productions. She teaches theater at the University of Southern California and has been a tireless advocate for trans inclusion in the entertainment industry for over three decades.
